Lodge News:
75th Anniversary of VE day
Walter Wilson, Past Master of Lodge Blackridge no. 1145, was unable to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day on parade in Edinburgh, as planned. He had been due to muster with comrades from Scottish War Blinded, Linburn Centre, where he volunteers twice a week.
Instead, he recognised the occasion at his home in Livingston Village where he is self-isolating. Wattie has never paraded with his medals since he had only recently been persuaded to mount them on a medal bar by an officer at Linburn.
During the war, whilst serving as a corporal with the Royal Scots, he had been wounded at the Rhine crossing and spent time in hospital at Hertogenbosch, in Holland, in 1945.
Wattie was installed as Right Worshipful Master of Lodge Blackridge in 1955 and continues to take an active part in Lodge activities to this day. He is also a Past Senior Provincial Grand Warden in Linlithgowshire Province and Honorary Grand Bible Bearer in the Grand Lodge of Scotland.
